Loss & Bereavement

“A Mother is not defined by the number of children you can see,

but by the love she holds in her heart.”

– Franchesca Cox

Welcome. If you’ve landed on this page because you are experiencing or have experienced a loss, I am so sorry. I validate you. I support you. I see you and I hear you.

I am truly so sorry for your loss.

“Right now, may you take a pause. Get into some comfortable clothing. Pour yourself a cool glass of water. Take some slow, deep, relaxing breaths. No matter what the next moments, days or weeks may bring, you are still a mother. And you always will be.”
– Stillbirthday.com

Grief is a natural process and every individual has a unique approach to grief and their own timeline. When a pregnancy ends with miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, medical termination, stillbirth, or neonatal death, you may experience a range of emotions from shock, confusion, to anger and hopelessness. It is healthy to release these feelings and express them in your own way. This is all part of the process.

I was inspired to become a Bereavement Doula when I too experienced the loss of our first baby in 2011. A Bereavement Doula provides support prior to, during, and after birth in any trimester. Bereavement Doulas are qualified to provide support in situations of miscarriage, stillbirth, fatal diagnosis, carrying to term, and NICU care. The support I provide the families I work with is very individualized. It looks different to every one. For some, it may simply be attending the doctors appointments, emotional support via text, phone, email or face-time, physical support while the mother births her baby earth-side, preparing the family to greet their baby, providing options for bonding and information on what to expect, and creating memories and mementos. I will walk alongside with you through your grief journey. The work of mourning begins when you feel safe, secure and comforted.

Finding support from your family, friends or a professional is important. It is my hope that you will be able to find information, guidance and healing from the resources I’ve compiled below.

I am here for you and I honour you.
